Marching Band Schedule & Updates


APA's Fall Musical, Les Miserables opens this Friday! This week is Tech week/Hell week, so our Pit Orchestra and everyone involved in the show will have a very busy week!

Or signed up to volunteer




 

This coming weekend, OMG needs lots of volunteers in many different areas!

We have a Football Game this Friday and it's our Middle School Night, when the local Middle School bands join our Marching Band to help play pep tunes during the first half of the game. After half time, we feed the Middle Schoolers to show our appreciation for them!

We need Football Concessions Volunteers, help with Uniforms and people to help with the Middle Schoolers.

 

Saturday is our first Marching Band Competition and there is a Les Mis Performance! Many of our Pit Orchestra performers are also in Marching Band. They need YOUR help to get from Costa Mesa High School back to HBHS in time for Les Mis! Our students who can drive will not be allowed to drive themselves! Parents, please sign up to drive! It's a quick volunteer position and you'll be helping to support multiple programs at once!

 

It certainly is OMG's busy season!

But our community is here to support you

in any way you need!

And don't forget,

"many hands make light work"

and the more we can help and support each other,

the better our program will be

and the easier it will be for all of us!

  • CSBC Championships- Hosted at HBHS needs YOU for it's success! We still need some volunteers to assist the Chairs for Champs.  Several Chairpersons are Senior parents and so we are looking for Junior, Sophomore, or Freshman parents to shadow, so that you can carry on the knowledge for next year.     • Pho Bulous dine out: Oct. 8 to 10, all day, 200 Main St., mention HBHS Band Boosters.

    • Photography Fundraiser: Carol Larsen Photography is offering Mini Photo Sessions on Nov 3rd at Central Park AND, just added, Nov 6th and 13th at the pier for just $275 for holiday or senior pictures.  They are 20 min sessions and include 5 digital images of your choice.  She will be donating $50 per session to Color Guard’s Dayton fund. See flyer below.

Marching Band Schedule & Updates

Nov 23rd, California State Band Championships needs your help planning! We are looking for parents who are willing to step forward to help chair positions for our biggest fundraiser. If you are at all interested in chairing any of these positions, please let us know! Thank you so much in advance! Champs Co-Chair, Parking Co-Chair, Ticketing Co-Chair, Programs and Sponsorships.

Schedule 10/7 - 10/13 -

 

  • Monday, 10/7

    • 2:00-4:30pm Marching Band

  • Tuesday, 10/8

    • 6:00-9:00pm Marching Band (non-Les Mis performers)


  • Wednesday, 10/9

    • 1:41-4:30pm Marching Band


  • Friday (Football game!), 10/11

    • 1:41-4:30pm Marching Band

    • 6:00pm Football Call Time

    • 7:00pm Home Football game vs La Habra HS (Middle School Night!)


  • Saturday (First competition!), 10/12

    • 10:30pm Call time, music rehearsal

    • 12:00pm Load trucks, eat, change

    • 1:45pm Load busses, leave HBHS

    • 2:30pm Arrive at Costa Mesa HS

    • 5:00pm Perform!

    • Immediately after, Les Mis performers are transported back to the HS.

    • 8:50pm Awards

    • About 9:45pm Arrive back to HBHS and unload the trucks

    • About 10:15pm Dismissed

Additional Notes for Parents and Students-

 

-Competition season is upon us! The Marching Band and Color Guard finally gets to show off what we have been working hard on at our first competition this Saturday at Costa Mesa HS. Please feed students a healthy breakfast Saturday morning, and have them bring money if they would like to go to Seacliff at lunch, and they will also be able to get concessions food at Costa Mesa HS. We will have snacks for them throughout the day. Come cheer us on at Costa Mesa HS! You can buy tickets there at the event, and spectators should park at OCC.

If your student is also in Les Mis, they will be transported back to HBHS immediately after they perform at 5:00pm and will make it back in time for Les Mis call-time.

-Friday is our first football game in a while, and it’s middle school night! We’ll be joined by a bunch of middle schoolers from Dwyer who will be playing in the stands with us. Les Mis performers will not be joining us for this football game. Have a great opening night!

For both the football game and Saturday’s competition, students need to have the following clothes with them:

  -White shirt, white long socks, white underwear.

  -Solid black shirt (or band shirt), blue jeans.

-Please make sure our marching band competition dates are on your schedule: Oct 12, Oct 19, Nov 2, Nov 9, Nov 16, Nov 23. These performances are extremely mandatory, any potential scheduling conflicts should be communicated as soon as possible. Thank you!!
